The Media Center

The Media Center supports the mission of The New School by helping students find, evaluate, and responsibly use information. The Media Center Specialist, Joanna Cole (, provides direct guidance to students in library and online search techniques, note taking, citing sources, and avoiding plagiarism.

Through Find It Virginia and the Fairfax County Public Library, the school has access to over 25 scholarly databases. These are subscription databases accessible from school or home. Importantly, all New School teachers and students are eligible for Fairfax County Public Library cards and access to the databases.

The Media Center features a conference table (seating 18); a large-screen LCD TV connected to a computer and VCR; 12 desktop computers; WiFi connectivity for laptops; HD video cameras, digital cameras, and other A/V equipment; a video archive of Showcase Exhibitions, Senior Exhibitions, school events, and student work; a "College Corner" with books, guides, test preparation materials, and college admissions materials; and a collection of general reference materials.
