Heather hails from Little Rock, Arkansas where she taught middle and upper school writing and English for three years before deciding to move to the DMV area in search of a bit of adventure (though you may still hear her “calling the hogs” when the Razorbacks play). While her experience is rooted in the English classroom, she has loved French language and francophone culture since her first French class in 6th grade. In search of high quality pain au chocolat and immersive language experiences, she studied for a year in Lausanne, Switzerland and later taught high school in Reims, France. She is excited to be at The New School and to share her love of language and culture, challenging her students to better know themselves through understanding multiple worldviews. Outside of the classroom, you will find her running on the Mount Vernon Trail, performing in a musical, or hunting out new coffee shops with cozy reading nooks.
