Joan followed her son David to The New School in 1989 and never looked back. She has, at one time or another, done pretty much everything there is to do at the school: from painting walls, running the front office, bookkeeping, admissions, advising and teaching to the myriad roles she currently plays, including facilitating college applications, overseeing communications, working closely with staff and students and essentially keeping her finger in every pie. Joan is proud of The New School’s outstanding teachers, whose classes and mentorship create an intellectually rich environment where young people blossom. When she’s not at school, she enjoys traveling, writing and reading. She is hopelessly addicted to crossword puzzles.
